Allonby School is a successful, small and inclusive school located on the West Cumbrian coast. It continues to be graded as GOOD by OFSTED further to our most recent inspection in March 2024. The village of Allonby is located in the Area of Outstanding natural beauty (AONB).
We have two classrooms - KS2 and KS1 which holds a Foundation unit consisting of Reception and Nursery that has been open since September 2014. The small class sizes enable each child to benefit from close, personalised teacher support. This ensures that all children make excellent progress.
We have very strong links with the local community and Church. Although Allonby School is not a Church school we have regular visits from the Vicar who takes assemblies. The children also participate in Harvest Festival, Christmas, Easter and other seasonal services at the Church. Villagers are frequently invited to the School to take part in events and celebrations and are also very committed to helping the school with fundraising and providing other expertise and services. We are very much a community school.
We currently have 22 children on role in school. Allonby School provides a wide and varied curriculum and this can be evidenced in the photographs of our children participating in many and varied activities within the "Children" section of this website under Class pages and Gallery for whole school. We offer an extensive and varied extra curricular range of activities from badminton, football, cookery, first aid, netball, dance/drama, multi skills and gardening all provided at different times of the year.
Our school currently holds Active Mark, Eco Award (Bronze) and Healthy School Status. The School is part of a local small schools cluster that meets regularly to offer mutual support, share good practice and provide peer to peer monitoring.
Allonby School is a very special place where each and every child is an important part of our school family and where children come first. This is epitomised by our The Allonby School motto which is "Allonby School ,where everybody is somebody" Your child's happiness is at the heart of everything we do. A happy child will learn well and reach their potential.
At Allonby School we value and respect each person in school for their views, for who they are, and we strive to treat everyone with fairness and honesty. We value and promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the co-operation and understanding between all members of the local and wider community.
