The teaching of Design and Technology at Allonby School:

At Allonby School, our Design and Technology scheme of work aims to inspire pupils to become creative thinkers who have an appreciation for the product design cycle through the generation of ideas, creation of designs as well as self and peer evaluation. Our aim is also to inspire the children of Allonby School to create, experience, and participate -we want them to become great, young inventors!

We want pupils to develop the confidence to take risks with designs, through drafting design concepts, modelling, and testing and to be reflective, resilient learners who learn to evaluate their own work as well as work of their peers.

Our planning has been adapted to our school's mixed age classes, so we follow a 2 year cycle in KS1 (Years 1 and 2) and a 4 year cycle in KS2 (Years 3-6) and adapt lessons appropriately. We use the CUSP scheme of work for Design and Technology.
